How to calculate EOR cost
An employer of record estimate should combine the employee's compensation with location-specific employer obligations and the provider's service charges.
Total EOR employment cost = Employee compensation + employer costs + EOR service fees Annualize compensation
Convert hourly, monthly or yearly pay to annual base salary, then include expected bonuses.
Add local employer costs
Include payroll taxes, social contributions, insurance, benefits and other required employment expenses.
Add EOR provider fees
Include monthly service charges, one-time onboarding costs and any percentage-based administration or FX fee.
EOR Cost Calculator FAQ
The total depends on the employee's salary, employer payroll taxes, insurance, benefits and the EOR provider's monthly and setup fees. Use the USA preset as a starting point, then replace every assumption with the rates and quote for the employee's state and provider. The result shows both the provider fee and the fully loaded employment cost, which are not the same figure.
Yes. Select the California preset for a planning baseline and edit the pay, taxes, insurance, benefits and EOR fees to match the offer. Fresno is covered as a California location, but wages and some local or role-specific costs can differ. The preset is an editable estimate and should be checked against a provider quote and current official guidance.
Add annual base pay, bonuses, employer taxes, social contributions, benefits, other employment expenses and all EOR fees. Then divide that total by annual working hours. This produces a fully loaded hourly figure for an EOR employee or a comparable W-2-style employment scenario, instead of showing salary alone.
Yes. The calculator is free, requires no signup and runs in your browser. Choose Download calculation (.CSV) to export the inputs, per-employee totals and team totals. The CSV file can be opened in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets or another spreadsheet application for budgeting and scenario comparisons.
An EOR becomes the legal employer and manages employment compliance where your company may not have a local entity. A payroll and HR platform such as Gusto is generally used when an existing entity already employs the worker. Compare the calculator's full EOR total with the combined cost of payroll software, entity setup, compliance support and internal administration for your specific hiring location.
